Giving Tuesday is the Black Friday of fundraising. It’s a highly-saturated, noisy day for non-profit marketing and we knew we needed to stand out.

So how do you motivate people to give in the middle of a pandemic and economic recession? You lean into the curve. 2020 was a really hard year for a lot of people, so I wrote and designed our Giving Tuesday match campaign concept to take a tongue-in-cheek approach to the end of the year. We used the matching gift and the idea of “doubles” to create a funny campaign that stood out from traditional fundraising marketing.

And it worked.

Our 2020 Giving Tuesday campaign surpassed $1 million in donations, improving 20% over 2019.
